June 14, 2013 -- Letting Go of the Known in Asana
What is familiar in a regular practice, the physical opening or the vitality we feel , or the sense of inner quiet, are surely elements that draw us back to our mats. And perhaps what takes us to workshops is another element altogether, which is that we can sometimes be taken out of what is familiar. Different poses from those we practice, or different sequencing, or different actions open our eyes and minds to otherwise unseen possibilities. Is there a way to find such unseen possibilities in an individual practice? What kinds of variations in actions, or sequences of poses are safe to try? And which variations are to be avoided? In this workshop we’ll address such questions in the context of a wide range of poses of from all types of asana.
